This week Austin and I take you for a ride on one of our favorite winter riding spots. The Upper Sacramento Ditch Trail to Chamise Peak is one of Reddings most Iconic day rides. It’s just a short 10-15 minute drive from our shop to the trailhead, where you’ll find beautiful views and ample parking for any rig. The trailhead also has restrooms, trash, and a nice big map with clear signage the whole ride. The trail itself is smooth enough that you could ride it on anything from a full suspension trail bike to a fat tired gravel bike. Most of the trail is smooth and fast, with a few spots of loose rocky terrain. What it lacks in technical terrain, it makes up for in stunning 360 views, and a unique experience of circling around the mountain as you climb. The 360 panoramic views from the top of Chamise Peak is one of the best views in all of Redding. Remember to watch for other trail users and always say hello!
